A divorce certificate is issued by the
Ministry of Justice. The civil register includes divorces
involving Omani citizens and of expatriates residing in the
Sultanate if one party is an Omani. Divorces should be notified
to the registrar within thirty days from the date of divorce.
The Ministry of Justice through it notary
offices is responsible for notifying divorces to the civil
status in order to be registered. As for those who got divorced
before the civil register was being set up or who have been
divorced for along time and their data has been recorded in the
civil register, they should notify the registrar by furnishing
the requisite documents.
