RESIDENT CARD

 

A resident or an expatriate in the Sultanate has to have a Resident card. This includes those who are employed and those who are not. The Resident card draws its importance from the necessity to know accurately the number of foreigners residing in the Sultanate and the pertinent statistics.

Required Documents to apply for a Resident Card:

  • For Working Residents in the private sector:

    1. Copy of clearance from the Ministry of Manpower along with the original.

    2. Copy of passport along with the original passport

    3. One (1) photograph.

  • For Working Residents in the public sector:

    1. A letter from the employee confirms the job title.

    2. Filled in application form. Fill the application from the site

    3. Copy of passport along with the original passport.

    4. One (1) photograph.

  • For Non Working Residents (Family members)

    1. Residence card application form.

    2. Copy and original of passport or parents’ passport if the applicant is still traveling on one of the parent's passport.

    3. One (1) photograph.

Fess:

  1. RO (10) for new issuance (for two years).

  2. RO (10) for Renewing for two years.

  3. RO (10) for damaged/lost

Be aware

  • While you are signing electronically on the card, you should consider the following:

    1. Hold the pen gently and press on it while writing.

    2. Sign between the two parallel lines (do not touch them or write above them).

    3. Your signature should be clear enough to appear on the card.

  • During digital photography:

    1. Sit straight and face the camera lens.

    2. Don't wear any glasses. Otherwise, the flash will reflect on the glasses and your picture will not be clear.
