The Civil Status project in Oman is an execution of the Royal Decree No (66/99) which ordained that the Civil Status Law be issued, and whose Article (2) decreed that a new directorate be established and added to the existing group of general directorates of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) to execute the Civil Status Law. It is the General Directorate of Civil Status.

CivilStatus.gov.om is a comprehensive website produced by the Directorate General of Civil Status, which promotes content designed to enlighten, educate and communicate the concept of its services to the citizens and the residents so that they are aware of the essence of the civil Entry and its goals beside the afore services offered by the directorate.

It is also a good use of the ultra modern technology that is available, along with other means that help communicate with both the citizen and the resident and educate them about civil Entry in Oman.
